The state's first human cases of West Nile Virus this year have been confirmed in lower MI.
Health officials say all four people were sickened between August 6 and August 11. 25, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) has reported 59 cases of WNV illness this year.

"The virus is here, and (historically) we know that WNv-carrying mosquitoes will be around well into the fall, " said Dr. Paul Roumeliotis, Medical Officer of Health with the EOHU.
Apply insect repellent containing DEET, picaridin, oil of lemon eucalyptus or IR 3535 according to label instructions to keep mosquitoes from biting you.
