First West Nile virus death in SC confirmed in Anderson Co

The state's first human cases of West Nile Virus this year have been confirmed in lower MI.

Health officials say all four people were sickened between August 6 and August 11. 25, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) has reported 59 cases of WNV illness this year.

"Most people who contract West Nile virus show no symptoms at all, or show mild symptoms, and will recover without a visit to the doctor", said Daniel Soule, MD, infectious disease specialist at CPH, who consulted with doctors who treated the patient.
